CAROL MACKAY
Carol is a graphic designer at heart. She co-founded Mackay Branson design with Greg Branson in 1984. During that time she's employed a myriad of designers, serviced long-term clients and delivered sustained profits for over 30 years. Since then, she's transitioned that experience to start Design Business Council: Australia’s only business advisory focussed on the business of design.
Carol believes that designers are surrounded by creative inspiration but are often bereft of business knowledge. That’s a problem to solve because designers confident in their business decision-making skills find it easier to grasp opportunities, identify the good prospects from the bad and to manage more effectively; more efficiently and more sustainably. Outside of work, Carol actively and intentionally advocates for our design community. Designers don’t always have the same support network as other professionals. Carol has mentored through AGDA, Womentor and The Aunties, and sits on the board of Never Not Creative.

Over the last 8 years in the industry she's tried her hand at working in-house, agency, freelancing and starting her own business.
Proudly raised in Queensland by immigrant parents, her guiding principles are treating people with fairness and giving back to the communities that we come from. Currently you’ll find her working for our iconic Roo, designing, animating and trying to convince everyone that planes would be cooler if they flapped.
