mentally-healthy

ALMOST HALF OF THE CREATIVE, MEDIA & MARKETING INDUSTRY ARE LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE MILD TO SEVERE SIGNS OF ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION.

Stress, Burnout, Isolation, Depression, Gender and Race Inequality, Bullying, Anxiety – we could go on. Maybe you're experiencing challenges in one or more of these areas. Don't worry, you're not alone, in fact, you'll likely find that just by chatting with a member of the community you'll find someone who can relate and has their own story to tell.

Our mission at Never Not Creative is to improve the mental health of the creative, media and marketing industry. Everything we do is geared to achieve this. It means that we focus on understanding the unique demands, conditions and systems in the industry and how they can be altered to achieve better outcomes.

Read below to understand more about our research, events and support groups and how to get involved.

In 2018, Never Not Creative partnered with Everymind and Unltd to conduct the largest study ever into the mental health of the creative, media and marketing industry. The results were alarming, but led to co-ordinated action and a follow-up study in 2020.

2022's findings were even richer and more insightful. We even saw some improvements in stigma and anxiety and depression levels.

We’ve also used our Mentally-Healthy research to prompt further investigation into empathy and how our industry leaders can improve how they look out for others. You can read more about that here.

Our latest research for 2024 is our most in-depth ever, looking at generational differences, intersectionality, the effect of work design and employers understanding of their responsibilities around mental wellbeing.

MINIMUM STANDARDS:

SIGN THE STANDARDS >

The Mentally-Healthy Minimum Standards were written to define the absolute minimum responsibilities that employers in our industry should be held to when it comes to the mental health of their employees.

So far, more than 130 different employers have signed up and made a commitment to the Standards.

The Standards include the need to have a clear policy related to over-working and days in lieu. A promise to maintain the privacy of those who disclose a mental illness, and the requirement (by law) to make reasonable adjustments to those who experience mental ill-health.

You can read more about the Standards here as well as sign up. A selection of employers can be found below. For the full list head to mentally-healthy.org.

CIRCLES:
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT GROUPS FOR THE CREATIVE INDUSTRY

find out more >

NNC Circles are peer to peer support groups for creatives. Circles consist of small groups of 8-10 people and help to discuss and provide education on mental health challenges and how to navigate the dynamics of the creative industry.

To date, we’ve helped over 50 creatives to better understand their mental health and introduced them to a community that they can call upon through the good times and the bad.

We start new Circles every 6-12 months.

The group is there to support you - not judge you or tell you what to do

EVENTS & WORKSHOPS:

We have developed events and workshops tailored to the needs of creative teams and businesses. These are paid events or programs that help to discuss mental wellbeing topics, train managers or share our mental health research for better understanding.

Checkout our programs below, or get in touch with us to discuss your needs via our contact form.

Never Not Creative is a non-profit organisation. All program and event fees are invested directly back into our initiatives to support mental wellbeing in the creative, industries.

ASKING FOR A FRIEND

Our popular Asking For A Friend event is now available to book for your own team and business.

The event teams 1-2 leaders in your business with a mental health professional to answer anonymous questions from your employees in a safe, non-judgemental space.

We help to organise and setup the event, recruit the mental health expert and work with you to gather questions and select the right kinds of leaders in your business to participate in the panel.

NEVER NOT MANAGING

One of the most common causes of poor mental health outcomes in teams is that we don’t do a great job of training managers in how to support and look after people.

Our Never Not Managing workshop is a half day event that focuses on how managers can create the conditions for their teams to thrive, while at the same time ensuring that they practice they’re own self-care.
