The Challenges We Face
Being a creative can be a lonely pursuit at times. With loneliness comes self-doubt, self-criticism and a feeling that we’re not just good enough. We’re our harshest critics and research has proven that the highest levels of stress that we experience come as a result of the pressure that we put on ourselves.
We’re always looking up to someone else, searching for role models and constantly challenging ourselves to be better everyday. This constant state of ‘not being good enough’ along with other issues and dynamics inherent in our industry is taking its toll. We need to have each others backs, look out for friends and peers and help each other to keep things in perspective.
NNC Circles connect creatives with creatives. We create safe, non-judgmental, non-competitive and confidential spaces to share stories, feelings, experience and advice to help whatever you might be going through, be just that little bit easier.
Each monthly session brings participants together in groups of 8-10 people. Sessions typically cover:
Circle check-in using the ‘wheel of life’
Introduction to mental health topic by facilitators
Group discussion
Action planning for the month ahead
This is a long-term commitment that you’ll need to factor in before you sign up. In order for the process to have a lasting benefit you need to make sure you can make the sessions and be open and honest in your reflections and feedback. Circles are all about giving and receiving with peers. Creating a group that can trust each other to be there when needed. We initially ask for 6 months of commitment to your group. How long the group remains after that will be up to you.
Never Not Creative Circles are best suited for creatives who are reacting to mental health challenges. They will provide a supportive community for anyone experiencing anxiety or struggling with life’s challenges. They’re an opportunity to share stories and learn practical skills to navigate through tough times. Facilitated by trained Facilitators, each Circle provides lifestyle tips from resources designed by health professionals.
If your mental health challenges are more serious, we may recommend that you join groups or seek help from professionals trained in treating more acute mental illness.
