Never Not Creative was founded to support the well-being of creatives. We do that by addressing the gaps in our industry, that for one reason or another, are yet to be filled.
One of our goals for 2023 is to focus on the new recruits to our industry — and to ensure, like all creatives, they are justly rewarded. Each year Australian uni’s, colleges and private providers graduate literally hundreds of designers. They’re skilled at designing within a learning framework but lack exposure to the design industry.
There are perils of being underprepared for a commercial and unfortunately in some cases, exploitative environment. At the other end of the scale, founding, managing and building a creative business is tough whether you’re a solo-operator or a running a full-service agency.
During 2023 we are presenting a series of presentations around Australia. Andy Wright, Founder of Never Not Creative will chair a fireside chat with leading design/agency owners about how they, and their team, are justly rewarded.
Included in the discussions are graduates who will share their experiences and expectations as they launch themselves into a career in the creative industry.
The second part of each event will be a conversation between graduates and designers about how to get paid, and the perils of working for free.
We make our way to Sydney as Never Sit Still open their doors to share how intern Izzie Trudgian took the road from Uni to first job and Mike shares how he grew the now infamous motion studio.
In Melbourne, Amber Bonney from Edison will be in conversation with Andy Wright on how to make the most of opportunities and what ethical internships mean for a more prosperous industry.
As we head to Perth, we chat with and are hosted by, Amy Sutton of Anthologie. Andy Wright and Carol Mackay also join from Sydney and Melbourne to round out our conversations in WA.
In Adelaide, we're joined by Shane Keane, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Studio Landmark. Shane and intern (now Junior Designer) Jayde Carnegie will share a fireside chat with Andy Wright.
